BIEN TRAN – Attorney, Public Speaker & Entrepreneur

Bien Tran obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Duke School of Law in 1999. He started his career at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP in its litigation section and operated his own law office prior to joining Bush & Ramirez, PLLC.

He has represented a large array of clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to global conglomerates in state and federal courts. He has served as lead counsel in a broad range of cases including commercial, contracts, landlord-tenant, and construction. His experience includes representing companies and individuals in cases involving energy litigation, personal injury, international arbitration, occupational and environmental chemical exposure, asbestos, products liability, pharmaceuticals, and contract matters.

Bien has been active in the political landscape for over 15 years. He served as President of the Asian-American Democrats of Texas for three years and sat on advisory boards to numerous national, statewide, and local candidates and elected officials. He was appointed to a position in Mayor Bill White’s administration. He served as the Harris County Democratic Party’s liaison for Asian media. He has appeared on Little Saigon Radio multiple times to discuss politics.

Bien is active in the business community as well. He previously sat on the Board of Directors for the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce in Houston and the Board of Directors of the Bayou City Arts Festival. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the charity organization Houston Halloween Festival.

MARC NATHAN – Consultant & Public Speaker

DR. AVRIM FISHKIND CEO & Founder of JSA Health Telepsychiatry

Dr. Fishkind is an innovative and awarded medical professional who has directed, designed and expanded multiple comprehensive psychiatric emergency programs around the world. He is the designer of the Burke Center Mental Health Emergency Center (MHEC)– the world’s first free standing psychiatric emergency service with psychiatric services provided entirely by telepsychiatry. He is a contributing author to multiple textbooks and journals, and has been publishing articles on verbal de-escalation of agitated patients and other non-coercive methods for over 15 years, starting the decade long discussion of improving verbal de-escalation in his year 2000 article in Current Psychiatry entitled “Calming Agitation with Words, Not Drugs.”

Originally from Rome, Italy, Q moved to New York in 1981 to join Sandgren & Murtha, the first spinoff of industry leader Lippincott & Margulies. In 1985 he opened his own firm, MARQ, which was then acquired by Interbrand in late 1989 to start a Corporate Identity practice; Q led and greatly expanded the practice, culminating in the acquisition by Omnicom in 1994. He left the company, spent a year consulting for FutureBrand and Enterprise IG on Air Canada, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Frontier, and then formed his own firm again - BrandLink.

In January 2005 Q was invited back to Interbrand, joining the NY office as Executive Director, Brand Strategy for North America. In October 2007 he was transferred to Interbrand Paris to lead the coordination of the firm’s eleven European offices from a business development and knowledge management standpoint - in addition to serving large pan-European clients such as Randstad, DSM, and Telefonica.

He came back to the US in 2010, continued to consult with Interbrand and InterbrandHealth and started serving other corporate clients independently. In particular, from 2014 to 2016 Q served as the resident senior brand advisor to Philips management in Amsterdam, sheperding the transition of the company to a healthtech global player.

Q attended the Rome University's School of Economics, I.E.D. Copywriting School in Rome, and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
