Christopher Smith is a writer, historian, and educator living in the great American west. Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, Chris lived in Vermont for twenty years, earning tenure in the English, Humanities, and Social Sciences department at Vermont Technical College. He relocated to Trinidad, Colorado in 2018, where he currently serves as a faculty member at Trinidad State College as well as part of the team working to restore the historic Fox West Theatre of Trinidad. His next book, about movie theater promotion in the 1930s, is forthcoming from the University of New Mexico Press.

Chris is a musician interested in vintage keyboard instruments and synthesizers, choral music, and vinyl records, as well as historic preservation and outdoor recreation.
