About:
A cinematic slam poetry film built to open the geothermal industry's flagship conference. From concept to multi-city production, we developed the creative vision, coordinated filming with partners in Edinburgh, and expanded the program to include a live orchestral score performed by musicians from the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet.
Goals of the Project:
An original slam poetry concept and multi-screen video production for Geothermal Rising's GRC 2026 opening ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Houston. From concept to execution, we developed the creative direction, coordinated remote filming with international partners in Edinburgh, sourced geothermal B-roll and stock videography, and delivered the main screen film plus synchronized exterior side-panel videos. When the program expanded, we added a live orchestral element, recruiting five world-class musicians from the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet orchestras to perform an original score alongside the film.
To open GRC 2026 with an emotional, human-centered moment that unites a technical audience around a shared purpose, elevate the conference experience beyond standard corporate openers, and give Geothermal Rising a signature creative asset that reflects the ambition of the energy transition.
Outcome:
The slam poetry film opened GRC 2026 across the main stage screen and synchronized exterior panels, accompanied live by a five-piece orchestral ensemble drawn from the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet. The piece replaced the conventional conference opener with something attendees had never experienced at an energy event: spoken-word poetry backed by a live orchestral score, produced across two continents and delivered to cinematic standard for a room of 1,000+ industry leaders.
A bold creative statement that turned a conference kickoff into a cultural moment and proved that the geothermal industry's story deserves a stage as ambitious as its mission.
